Marymount Hospital features specially trained lactation consultants to personally assist mothers who choose to breast feed their babies.
Role of Lactation Consultant
A lactation consultant is a healthcare professional who is specially trained and educated in the physiology and mechanics of breastfeeding. A lactation consultant is able to assist new mothers and infants in the early postpartum period with practical hands on assistance. She is also a healthcare professional available for telephone or individual lactation consults as needed during the continuum of the breastfeeding experience.
Breastfeeding Assistance
After discharge, our Lactation Consultant remains available to you by phone or appointment. We also encourage you and your baby to contact our Outpatient Lactation Consultant if necessary.
