Smoking Cessation

Inpatient Smoking Cessation Counseling and Kit
Marymount Hospital is committed to the health of the communities we serve and is therefore a "smoke-free" hospital. To help those patients who are smokers, Marymount provides a "Smoke-free Survival Kit" and/or nicotine replacement therapy to make our patients as comfortable as possible during their stay. Additionally, patients who are interested in breaking the habit for good can talk to a smoking cessation counselor or their physician about methods to quit smoking during their stay.

Outpatient and Community Programs
Marymount Hospital can refer smokers to the Cleveland Clinic Tobacco Treatment Center in Independence for an individualized smoking cessation treatment plan. Fees based on sliding scale/ability to pay; financial assistance available. Program includes assessment, counseling, medications and follow-up care. Call 216.444.8111 for more information.

Expectant Parents
Expectant or new parents can take advantage of a special packet and cessation video designed just for new parents. Smoking can cause low birth weight, asthma and other respiratory complications in infants and children. New parents can also be provided with nicotine replacement and other comfort measures during their maternity hospital stay. For you and your baby’s health, talk to your obstetrician about cessation and nicotine replacement therapy.
